It does not matter how much painting experience you have. The workshops are for both serious beginners as well as intermediate and advanced students. Absolute beginners are welcome (as long as you are prepared to work hard and are serious about learning how to paint well - these workshops will require some work). In fact I like working with absolute beginners because generally they have no bad habits to unlearn and so the learning goes much more quickly!
June and September workshops
The June and September workshops will be designed for both beginner and advanced painters.
For the beginners, I will cover all the essentials skills like notan, values, composition, and color. You can get an idea of the topics I cover by looking at the workshop video lectures week one and week two.
For the more advanced students I will give individual tuition tailored to the the areas you need to most focus on.
May workshop
The May workshop however will be more geared to returning and good intermediate or advanced students. In this workshop I hope to explore some new ideas and places. The schedule will be flexible and we may also work on the coastline on some beach paintings as well as painting in the countryside. Students in this workshop will be expected to be more independent, and I hope to be able to discuss more advanced topics in painting. I would also like to concentrate on putting figures into compositions, so you should have some basic drawing skills in order to attend this workshop.
